East Site Demolition
In 2023 we applied for a Brownfield Land Release fund to carry out enabling works on the site, covering asbestos removal and demolition of the garages and here we are! Feels momentous to have something tangible to show for all our hard work. Big props to Taus Larsen our member, friend and Project Architect for putting the application together and navigating this with the council.

Development funding granted!
Furze is excited to announce we have been granted £370k in Development Funding secured through BCC’s Affordable Housing Funding Program (AHFP). This will contribute towards the build costs for the 50% of the housing that will be allocated through the social housing register. There is no social housing rooms and private rental rooms, its a ratio across the coop and all will remain affordable and cooperatively managed.

Planning Permission Granted
In May 2024 planning permission was granted for our application to build 5 eco homes with a few minor alterations to the submitted design. Time to celebrate! And redouble our efforts…

Affordable Funding Housing Program Grant.
We have successfully bid on and been awarded £370,000 towards our development costs from Bristol City Councils AFHP grant. This fund will go towards the development of the half of the project which will take member allocations from Bristol City Councils housing register. It was a huge amount of work and the second time we applied so celebrations all round for this huge step!
It’s us again from Furze Housing Cooperative! We are a group of eight friends working together to build homes for ourselves on the derelict garage sites on Rowlandson Gardens.
We’re now ready to present some draft designs for your feedback. The conversations we’ve had so far on doorsteps, on the green at the Residents Planning Forum have already shaped many aspects of our designs. We’d really appreciate your input again.
Join us for a design presentation, discussion and light refreshments.
